This DVD features footage taken, as the title suggests, on the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway betweeen 1963 and 1978. For those who visited Laal Ratty in the 1960's this is pure nostalgia. For those who have discovered the railway more recently, this is a look back in time.

When the railway came up for auction in 1960, the heady days of rejuvenation were captured on 8mm Kodachrome film.

Part 1 contains the title and credits, together with:-

• The journey from West Riding of Yorkshire to Eskdale on the route taken by the film's producer on his frequent visits during the 1960's


• A brief history of the railway


• Stations on the railway


• The people connected with the railway, including several of the staff who started work there in the early 1920's


• The locomotives and rolling stock

 

Part 2 is devoted to a "Day on the Railway" incorporating a ride on the train behind River Irt, driven from Ravenglass to Dalegarth by Dick Nicholson. 

Part 3 features Eskdale Green station and some other events.
