By Stuart Jenkins and David Jenner The Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway has survived over 125 years of tangled history to become one of the English Lake District's most popular tourist attractions. It was declared bankrupt soon after opening and survived later changes of gauge, management and major traffic. This tangled history was very well recorded by a few local photographers permitting us to revisit times now long departed when the RAER was the major method of transport to and from Eskdale. This is the first of a series of albums that will concentrate on particular sources of photographs. This first album is based on the collection of the late Bert Thompson, a railway employee from 1915 to 1953. Softback, A4 Format, 74 pages, well over 100 black and white illustrations printed on art paper.
